evaluation of technical efficiency of iran housing bank using data envelopment analysis (dea) method
Authors
abstract
the main purpose of this research paper is to calculate irans housing (maskan) bank through the use of data envelopment analysis. in this research, the performance of 33 branches of the housing bank throughout tehran (capital city of iran) within 2002-2004 was analyzed and discussed. the results of the study shows that average technical efficiencies of housing bank branches in two hypotheses of constant return to scale were respectively 0.82, 0.91 in the first group and 0.7, 0.95 in the second. in other words, average technical inefficiencies were 0.09 and 0.05 respectively. as observed, the first group, which includes the big financial transaction branches, has less short-run efficiency (variable return to scale) than the second group. it was found out that the branches under survey did not enjoy an appropriate status regarding scale efficiency although their managerial efficiency was high. most branches enjoy increasing return of scale.

full textassessment of the efficiency of s.p.g.c refineries using network dea
data envelopment analysis (dea) is a powerful tool for measuring relative efficiency of organizational units referred to as decision making units (dmus). in most cases dmus have network structures with internal linking activities. traditional dea models, however, consider dmus as black boxes with no regard to their linking activities and therefore do not provide decision makers with the reasons...
Evaluation of Palm Groves Technical Efficiency Using Bootstrap Data Envelopment Analysis: A Case Study of Roodkhanehbar Area, Iran
Roodkhnehbar area, having approximately 111 thousands of Keriteh palm trees, is one of the most important areas of date production in the Rudan County[1]and the source of peoples’ income in this area, directly or indirectly. As a result, its production efficiency has a critical importance to the orchardists in this region. This study aims to evaluate technical efficiency of palm groves in this ...
full textBank efficiency evaluation using a neural network-DEA method
In the present time, evaluating the performance of banks is one of the important subjects for societies and the bank managers who want to expand the scope of their operation. One of the non-parametric approaches for evaluating efficiency is data envelopment analysis(DEA). By a mathematical programming model, DEA provides an estimation of efficiency surfaces. A major problem faced by DEA is that...

Background: Measuring the efficiency of hospitals due to the high proportion of budget allocated to them on the one hand, and the need to ensure the best practices regarding the use of scarce resources on the other hand, is of particular importance. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the technical efficiency of the affiliated hospitals of Shahrekord University of Medical Sciences by using...
full textEfficiency Measurement of Bank Branches with Undesirable Output Using Non-Radial Models of Data Envelopment Analysis
Today, banks, as intermediaries, seek to attract and allocate resources to obtain greater benefit. Therefore, the bank assessment is considered as an important subject in the banking industry. Data envelopment analysis is an effective technique in evaluating the efficiency of decision-making units. There are factors among banking indices (such as receivables from resource allocation) that are i...
